Slapovi na Ukovi

(Ukova waterfalls)

OPIS (Description)

Potok oziroma hudournik Ukova izvira v večih krakih pod spomladi narcisnim, poleti in jeseni gobarskim, pozimi pa smučarskim Španovim vrhom v Karavankah. Zanimiv je le njegov naravni tok, kajti v mestu nepreklicno ugasne pod betonom in železarskimi obrati in le najboljši poznavalci vedo, kje se sramežljivo izlije v Savo. V svojem kratkem toku skozi gozdove ustvarja vsaj štiri slapove, vredne imena, in še nekaj skočnikov, desni krak pa poleg tega še lepo skrito dolinico, imenovano Sedem grabnov.

(Stream or torrent Ukova comes in several spring arms (or shanks) under the (in spring full of daffodils, summer and autumn mushrooms and in winter skiers) Španov vrh in Karavanke Mountains. Interesting is only its natural (visible) flow, because in the city irrevocably extinguishes under the iron and steel and cement plants, and only the best experts know where stream shy flows into the river. In its short course through the forests generates at least four waterfalls, worthy of the name, and some jumpers, its right arm in addition forms a beautiful hidden valley called Sedem grabnov (roughly translated as Seven trenches). All major waterfalls are on the left arm. The largest is the bottom, close to ten meters high waterfall, which is in one piece at high waters, but at normal waters divides in two jets, and when drought it may also dry up completely. It expires in a shallow pool from which runs in another small waterfall. Above it there's another four 5 meters high "younger waterfall brothers", from the path not all of them visible (direct approach due to the steep and tattered terrain can also be risky to less skilled travelers.)

DOSTOP (Access)

(In Jesenice drive to the city public baths, where is usually enough space for parking. Past the parking lot runs Ukova, which has been here restrained by regulation. Go on the narrow road from the last few houses, on the right bank of the river and then turn sharply uphill. A little higher on the water tank markings are found that leads up to the cart track that cut across the gorge and continue up to the worse, but marked trail to the edge of the gorge, where the highest waterfall is first heard and then seen. Approach to it is annoying and water runs sharply downward. Go back on track and continue to a crossroads keep right (left trail leads to the right leg above the stream Seven trenches valley). Soon another trail turns up, which is deliberately overlooked by us and continue on non-marked path after the former rut to bed, somewhat again annoyed to cross. Continue to this very modest path, from which we can view the remaining waterfalls. Location of a noise issue water. Some waterfall can be seen from the path, to other we have to work hard with a few gift of a trailblazer, because of steep and unmarked terrain. Careful! If we follow the path, in an hour the forest road is reached and the steep slopes of grass Jesenice Rovt. To the baseline is the best - and fastest - if we return by the same route back.)
